Does this sound like a healthy balanced diet for a welsh section A pony who had laminitis last year but still footy on stoney tracks? Been struggling to get him right for ages now over stones espcially with the spring grass coming through although been given the clear by the vets regarding laminitis. He is being fed soaked hay during the day and overnight in a small paddock with barely any grass. Was currently only being fed happyhoof and speedibeet but after alot of research and this forum realised this might be adding to his problems. He isnt overweight anymore and if anything a little on the ribby side.

Does this sound better for him?
speedi beet
Simple systems total eclipse ( instant linseed, seaweed and brewers yeast)
Timothy chop
Cinnamon
Salt

and possibly bi carb

also when stabled some lucie nuts in a treat ball for him?

My pony was footy over the spring so I changed her feed to a scoop of fast fibre and Naff multivitamin and she is great! Shes in a bareish paddock and is a very good doer so is coping fine on what she has.

I find with laminitis, the simpler the better.

Good luck x

read www.ecirhorse.com - it has a good base diet and recommendations

cinnamon is no longer recommended for IR horses

you can buy all the ingredients for Total Eclipse from Charnwood Milling at a fraction of the price

seaweed is no longer recommended as a a general purpose/everyday vit/min supplement

I avoid anything with alfalfa in it for laminitics (eg the lucie nuts)
