Our go doer pony doesn't really need any hard feed as he is rather rotund already but as he is worked most days/is 15yrs old/ a bit prone to poor feet I do want to give him a good gen vit/min supplement/joint sup /hoof supplement as well as mag ox and extra salt plus charcoal as he is very windy.

At the mo I use Baileys lo cal balancer mixed with a handful of happy hoof as he likes the texture of a pellet and won't eat any sloppy food eg fast fibre or very chaffy food but I am not happy with this at all. I want a cereal and molasses free base feed which isn't slop and has texture and some chaff that I can mix a couple of supplements in (essentially a 'barefoot' diet)

Ideally I would like to feed Pro hoof with just an added joint supp to reduce the amount of powdered product with a very basic low sugar grass pellet and similar chaff mix, both being without added vit/mins as Pro hoof will cover that . Most grass nuts aren't suitable for lami and I don't want to feed alfalfa and most chaffs are straw mix or have alfalfa in them.

So the challenge is to find a low sugar basic grass nut with no added extras and a non alfalfa or straw based basic chaff mix with? Does anyone have ideas or recommendations Pleeassseeeee? Have been going round and round the Internet and got nowhere!!

Do you have a red rufus/agrobs supplier? Their grass chop/nuts are much lower de than the equivalents. I currently feed d+h just grass on the basis that I don't feed much by weight but recently got samples of the chop and cob version of agrobs which went down very well - and he is quite fussy!
