Barefoot experts - what do you think of this feed?

Not an expert certainly, but am a barefoot nerd if that helps?!!

Looks alright tbh, some people do avoid soya (but then if you avoided everything that someone out there finds doesn't work for their horse then you wouldn't feed anything!!) but sugar and starch levels are good. Have you tried grass nuts? Not sure what your phosphorus is like, but if your forage is low with high calcium then you could look at bran too. Our can be picky but soaked grass nuts mixed with bran seems to go down very well with our two!
 
I would dearly love to know what ''sumo power supplement'' is :D

Its very soya based as has been said, not one I would feed personally as im not keen on soya or garlic but low sugar content so shouldnt compromise your barefoot.

However Im sure we can come up with something more worthy of your money :D

Is your mare a good doer or poor? Living in or out? Are you doing her mash with warm or cold water? Have you tried adding healthy goodies such as fenugreek/ rosehips/ hedgerow herbs to what she doesnt like? Is she getting one biiiig meal a day or two or 3 little ones?

No expert probably just same as you, but does she like speedibeet - micronised linseed, readigrass and pro hoof supplement - this is what i am aiming for = just in transition stages.

We have tried Fast Fibre - that was a no go and yet another bag of feed wasted.
Speedibeet with readigrass and micronised linseed -that's what she's on at the moment. She will eat it in the evening, but not in the morning when I put the magnesium oxide and brewers yeast in - she will eat the brewers yeast so it's definitely the magox that she won't eat. I've tasted it and it's just chalky, so not sure what her aversion is to it.

She's a 9 yr old TB off work until at least Spring with Navicular, bilateral spavin and a hind limb proximal suspensory ligament injury. She goes out for a few hours in the day - number of hours is dependant on the weather and then stabled at night with a double netted net of haylage (she won't eat hay).
I've tried the mash hot and cold - no difference - not keen.
Although she is a TB she is a pretty good doer and is in fact quite overweight at the moment.
I will go out this afternoon and try to get some fenugreek to see if she will eat that....

i'm pretty sure that their feeds are 20kg bags. I used to use the Readymash Extra when she was shod and in work and it lasted forever - but the starch levels are too high for an unshod horse out of work. I think it only cost me about £1 a week to feed! Their feeds are usually around £13 per bag, but last a really long time.

Have you looked at Pure Feed Company stuff? Really good feed - no mollasses, high fibre, low starch, great for horses that have had ulcers, they look fantastic on it!
 
If you buy only two bags online then yes, including delivery it costs that much. If you buy their stuff from the local feed shop, then it is far cheaper, as it is if you buy more bags at once - it has a long shelf life so keeps really easily. You are paying for direct next day delivery too, so of course if you only buy a couple at a time from their webshop it costs more! In the summer, when out 24/7 on good grass, eventing twice a month at PN and training once a week over 1.20 courses, I was feeding Pure Easy at half the recommended rate, so it was costing me about £6 a week.

And yes, I did buy 10 bags for £60, they were running a promotion on FB.

TBH, my point was that this is an excellent feed - you don't have to buy it online from them!
