Prior to taking Deano's shoes off I am trying to find out as much as I can to make the transition as smooth as possible. He is currently fed a balancer, chaff, charcoal and ad lib haylege. He was being fed micronised linseed until recently but I had to cut it out as he was so full of energy he started acting like a total nutcase.
I am thinking of changing him onto Pro Hoof balancer, Hifi Mollasses free and Speedibeet. Does it this ok? Will he suffer for not having the linseed and is there an alternative that would offer similar benefits?

You could always add Omega oil for the same benefits? Or corn oil if you can get the big containers in your supermarket. In Tesco's it's in the World Foods section, I think, in 5L containers. Linseed isn't compulsory, though. I'm trying to make the switch to corn oil, myself, but I only feed either because of the anti-inflammatory properties, for my sweet itch mare. It's never made a jot of difference to my other pony, who simply needs restricted grazing and an alfalfa-free diet!
