My lad is going on really well barefoot and he's back in work with epics. ( most of you know his story)
the only thing I'm worried about are his frogs. I treat for thrush morning and night with different products and he's got no pain in his frogs, land heel first and walking nicely BUT his frogs have gone. I honestly don't think he is weight bareing on them. Iv also posted on phoenix horse where it was suggesed to lie a rasp across his heels and I honestly think his frogs won't be in contact. ( will try tomoz though)
so what's the best way to deal with this? Easycare pads with higher pads on frogs and take out my 12mm in my epics?

One of my horses loses an entire frog from time to time. I've never used pads and only rarely used boots as he has weird feet!

It has always grown back on it's own. If he's not lame or sore at all, I'd leave it. Doesn't take long to grow back.:)

No not at all, and walking nicely on concrete. Just worrys me the way his frogs have gone but honestly don't think it's thrush as I can push them as hard as I can and he don't mind.

They might not be in contact with the ground standing on a hard surface, but they will be on a softer surface... walking around a field will stimulate them ;)

Oh I didn't think of that brightbay. I could do more in the sand pit with him. Sorry that's what we call it :) that would also help wouldn't it or because sand is rough would it wear them away more

Different horses have different frogs: my two Spanish boys have barely any, my cob has big, fat generous frogs. All are sound.
