Barefoot hoof porn - what caused this then?

I love white choc in any form but the Lindt balls-Heavenly!!! Mine was a trotter in Holland I think! No nothing of his past though, just the way he moves, and some garbled history from dealer he came from.

Oh I'm so sorry I've eaten them all now :( glad you agree with me that they're to die for :)

I'm guessing that trotted circuits always run counter clockwise? I'll try and Google it.......

Yup, looks like most harness Racing is counter clockwise :)

Wow, had never even checked that before! He is the sweetest placid thing and totally biddable. Not a stubborn bone in his body. So excited about him getting his hooves 'back' I think he will find it tough at first but then just completely get it. He loves his food too the very epitome of a good doer! So if he has to walk to eat that's what he will do! Just worry a little about his lungeing exercise as he really only lunges left! oes this squealy leaping thing to right rein! Sorry mega hi-jacked thread alert!

PP I'm not surprized you are so exited and I'm so looking forward to seeing his progress on the blog.

CPT, I didn't mean to sound ungrateful/ungracious about the sweeties.

The racing/working always in one direction and the effects it can have is an interesting subject. I hadn't thought about it until I read Rooney's book.

Go on, admit it, you're just not human, are you :D???

Haha! There is a reason behind it, when I was very young about 7, my mum used to work for United Biscuits, which I think became KP foods or the other way around. Anyway, imagine having an unlimited supply of penguins at that age? Bleh, I can't look at milk chocolate now but I might nibble a bit of the dark stuff. I do have an unreasonable liking for jelly tots though! I'm going to be keeping a close eye on barefoot threads as my yearling will hopefully never wear shoes as she progresses.

Only just seen this so I couldn't join in but do you have any more pics? Of the flaring/or lack of it on the side and corresponding sole shots? It would be an interesting exercise to work through his progress.

Very interesting!
Apologies this is my first post, I've been lurking for a while especially on barefoot threads as my horse has recently gone lame on the off fore but only on the right rein on a 20m circle or less both hard and soft going. Completely sound otherwise. So I had the vet out, nerve blocked below fetlock, sound. X-rays confirm no damage but did show an unbalanced hoof from coronet band. When I bought him I swapped farriers on a recommendation, farrier did the usual correction for hoof/pastern axis and I believe this is what has made him lame.
Sorry to hijack thread but it is very very interesting that such slight imbalances can mean a lame horse. My vet has recommended remedial farriery with a different farrier, but my farrier is in full support of taking the shoes off. Thanks to help from Oberon I am going to have them off on Tuesday and with hopefully NO trim by the farrier we will be looking at a sound horse in a few weeks/months on that right rein :) I'm changing diet too as I understand that is crucial! Sorry I have hijacked the thread completely!

Most definitely! I'm not fortunate enough to be off to Rockley with my boy but I will follow your journey and no doubt be on here searching for help when all isn't going smoothly. I'll look out for your neddie on the blog, best of luck :)

I really need to take a set at different times in the year. He's in hard work now and the flare didn't show in the photo I tried to take this morning. I don't have any more, sorry, I was just completely taken aback when I realised that only half of one of his feet had ripples and the rest are completely smooth.

You're in good hands with Oberon :)
