Barefoot horse boots for box rest horse?

Do you mean the pads? They have to be fitted inside a boot or taped on the stay in position. I have heard of people using EPS pads with shoes for laminitis.

No sorry the boot. The E7 is too big now hoping a E6 will fit him. Really need to keep his foot dry as need to dry the hole up now. Just not sure what else to try now??

Hello, boot user here.

When I need to take up extra room in a boot I put ski socks on the ponio :) (Cheap as poss and make sure they stretch) pads out nicely and stops any rubbing from twists. The pads you get for the inside of hoof boots are made of tough sort of rubbery foam. I have yet to find anything tough enough to use as a substitute.

I have found easyboot grips easiest with any kind of poulticey type thing as they are easier to get on over all the bumf and the gaiters keep it all in place. I lend mine out to other owners if needed :)

Hope this was vaguely helpful xx

I'll have a look at the grips....also, I'm now at a stage where I'd like to plan for turning her out - if she goes out in the RX boots I think she'll slip (I can;t see her just going into the field and pottering quietly, based on recent walk outs around the yard !) so I'm looking for some big boots for a horse with wide feet .....I've wondered about Old Mac's but nowadays you only seem to be able to get the G2's which are narrower, and wouldn't fit her? Also considering some renegade boots, but I hear they don't suit coldblood type horses , but more "araby" upright feet .....

There are many types of hoof boot on the market.

It depends on your budget .
whether you want tight fitting boots .
poultice type of boots .
Some of the swiss boots are light, snug fitting like a second skin.

If you need to put any medication on the foot prior to the boot.
If gamgee is needed.
or you can put duck-tape on to protect the foot.
Personally I would opt for the swiss boots as they do protect and easy to put on and they are not cumbersome for the horse.

Hmm, that's interesting, I'd not heard of these before ....not sure how they would be on wet grass though .....?
