Hello,

Before I start I'd just like to say I have horse and hound's permission to post this.

You may have seen a couple of previous threads in the past about this... I'm a vet student and for my final year research project I'm studying conformation of shod and unshod horses hooves. This is a huge project for me, and hopefully it will go to publication.

I've started my research period now and I'm quite successfully collecting data, but I have more shod horses than barefoot.

I'm desperately looking for just a few more barefoot horses to photograph their hooves. It doesn't matter whether they are trimmed by a farrier or podiatrist, all I'm asking for is that they've been trimmed within the last 5 days when I see them, they're sound, they're trimmed on a regular basis (ie not self trimming), they've been barefoot for more than 18 months, and they're aged between 5 and 20. I'm fully aware this doesn't particularly represent the true barefoot population, but for validity of my study, I must make sure they are similar to the shod horses I've photographed.

Does anyone think they might be able to help me out? I'm available to photograph on tues the 28th, sat the 1st, sun the 2nd, mon the 3rd, sun the 9th and mon the 11th at the moment.

Please do send me a message if you think you can help! And please let your barefoot friends know too. Thank you ever so much!

Jo

There's a bitless and barefoot group on facebook. I'm sure if you post the same post there you'll get a good response - lots of very committed and proud barefooters!

I'm also available between the 5th (wed) and the 8th (sat) north of London, as I'll be seeing some horses in Hertfordshire and surrounding counties during those dates.

I'm Cambridgeshire if you want to come take some pictures of mine. Am busy the 1st and 2nd but can do the other dates.

Thank you so much for everyone's replies. I really do appreciate everyone's offers. I still need a few more horses though, so if you know of anyone, please let me know!
