Barefoot & National Riding Clubs

BE rule book (can't remember the page number) clearly states Kitemarked or SEI marked hats only, and even features a picture of both symbols, so I expect the international competitors have hats which comply with this ruling? BRC do still require the kitemark.

My OH has the same trouble with hat fitting, and much as we'd like a made to measure Patey that's out of the question!!
He too had to have extra padding in a Charles Owen, although we preferred the Champion the fitter wasn't happy that the extra padding was providing as good a fit as it was in the Charles Owen.

Re my comment about your ill fitting hat...please accept my apologies. Reading the post back it does sound rather rude & unpleasant & that wasn't my intention - I should perhaps make better use of smilies.

Whether its a BRC or local RC thing, either way it is still a blinkered view.

I couldn't agree more.....my own horses are shod, but I do know several who are barefoot & have no problems at all. In fact I'm going to look at one thats been imported from Rumania where they don't shoe them (so I've been told before any rumanians go beserk at me!!), The farrier hates having to trim it because it's feet are like iron, & has told the lady who's selling it that it would be a crime to nail into them!!
