My idxtb mare has been barefoot/ without shoes for well over six months now & im really pleased with her on the whole.
She has had to spend more time in due to the weather & saturated fields etc.She is currentley on ad lib hay, fast fibre & one mug full of linseed a day.
I would like her to have a little more condition on her but im also aware spring is just round the corner(hopefuly!) so i dont want too much condition,i also dont want too much fizz ! Any idea what else i could introduce short term, ideally something off the shelf ie:spillers/dengie or D&H.Would barley rings be any good or is that a no no for the barefoot diet.Thanking you in advance.xx

You could try swapping FF for unmolassed beet and/or upping the linseed. Barley rings will prob be too starchy and I wouldn't recommend.

My boy has been having plenty of hay, a stubbs scoop of Kwik beet(unsoaked) and two mugs of linseed, split between two feeds!
This has kept condition on him over the winter, but without him getting fat!

I'm using Saracen Equijewell on a horse that can be footy, and am having no problems with it, gaining weight (topline particularly) nicely, 1/2 mug a day.

Falcon Feeds Omega Rice is my go to for non-heating condition. It's rice bran and linseed, barefoot friendly and I've used it on several Tbs with no ill effects. A bag lasts me over a month :)

Alfa pellets, crushed oats, copra meal. I add all these to my lads feed and are all easily available from my local feed store.

Why don't the BFT start up a brand of its own... call it "The Barefoot Diet" (and variations thereof)... it's already really well known and I can predict sales will go through the roof :D:D:D:D:D

The BFT Company... I can see it all now..................... banners, posters, flyers, facebook group, twitter..... franchise it even!!
