I took my mare barefoot on a livery yard, we started with compromised sore feet and now hack and hunt barefoot only using boots occasionally.
Definitely get a good supplement, mine is as fussy as hell but I can get her to eat forage plus, progressive earth or equimins (I have used them all at different times). Introduce it gradually and in plenty of wet feed so the powder clings to the feed.
A pair of boots with EPS pads are really helpful too, especially for transition. We have a very stoney track to get down for all hacking so I really needed to have her feet in good shape before I could hack barefoot.
I use red horse sole paint if there is thrush but not all the time.
I don't have my own field and can't section it off at all but the fields are well grazed and not fertilised. The haylage isn't too rich either.
