I am down sizing and going native! I have bought a lovely connie chap who has excellent unshod feet - and until we start eventing I intend to keep him that way!
Having never had a barefoot pony I don't know the ins and outs of being o'naturel! I have always had crumbly tb and other troublesome feet!
Recommendations on products that keep them in tip top condition and any other advice appreciated!
Also recommendation of barefoot trimmer on the glos/wilts border!

Diet is the answer. Diet and exercise.

Watch the grass, keep sugar and starch out of any hard feed as far as possible. Feed a good mineral supplement, or have your forage analysed. There are heaps of posts on here giving good advice on diet.

Lotions and potions are imho a waste of money, and may even be counter productive.

There aren't any magic potions or lotions for feet, the best thing in the world for them is a low sugar diet, which you'll probably need with a native anyway.

The only time that my native will be footy is when there is a surge in the grass growth, so I make sure she is restricted and fed soaked hay or high fibre haylage instead of grass. It usually coincides with a bout of thrush, which tends to resolve by reducing the sugars and tackling with a good srub with salt water and slapping on some sudocrem.

I'm afraid I can't advise on trimmers as mine manages to self trim, she just needs a tidy round with a rasp occasionally if out of work. :)

Both mine are barefoot and beautifully managed by my trimmer and does serve your area. Tim mockford, Www.performancehoofcare.com 07809879658
Can't recommend him enough! I feed my welshie magic, magnesium is great for her feet ( although Ifeet it for her spookiness)
Good luck
