Trying to learn more about barefoot, apologies for adding to more of the barefoot threads!!
No 'problems' with her as such, has been a bit thrushy. Do people prefer barefoot trimmers to farriers, my farrier is very good - shes a nightmare to do at the moment, but is getting there.

Please tell me what you see, how it can be improved etc? Thanks.

Looks like your farrier is doing a nice job.

I advocate anyone who does the best jobs on the hooves;)

Keep an eye on the diet but, I reckon she just needs more work for those hooves to look near perfect.

Me too, anyone who is a good trimmer, be they farrier, EAP, barefoot trimmer or whatever, is good for the horse. I've just posted a link to some good products for thrush etc on the barefoot taliban thread.

I'm am owner but to me the quarters and possibly the heels are a bit long. The toe is nice and short, does she walk landing toe first mostly? A basic trim the hoof wall needs to follow the live sole and be a bead above it. If the frog is thrushy or heels weak they may need to be a little longer but not quarters.
They look nice hooves though. :)

Have a look at these pics to see what I mean. http://www.progressivehorse.co.uk/html/pin-ups.html

looking good to me! thrush and mushy feet are all to do with the ground. i personally wouldnt change anything if the horse is sound and happy.......

Are her frog firmly in contact with the floor? If so, and she's happy, I would leave well alone. If not, then I agree with Amandap that the walls at the quarter look very high, but it should only be an issue if it has taken the frog out of contact with the floor.

From the side, they look very promising.

Thanks for all your help -
she does land toe first sometimes, although it is hard to tell because theres barely a stride of flat ground at my yard.
Sorry for my stupidity - what are the quarters and how are they high? Do you mean the walls? If so I kind of agree, trimming her is a work in progress as shes obviously had a very bad experience in the past.

I wouldn't have left Walls as high, I think I can see some flaring but if horse is happy, then ok.

Not stupid at all! :) I should have been clearer. Yes I mean the walls between the toe and heels. Have a look here. http://www.google.ie/imgres?imgurl=...JcbChAeUl-m3AQ&sqi=2&ved=0CC4Q9QEwAA&dur=7586

You will get there with her reluctance to be trimmed. :)

I reckon a bit of road work and the walls will get to where they should be (slightly above the live sole plane).
