Have had rosie barefoot now for a while and noq has no problems with stones etc so feet pretty hardened off. But they do still chip.
Was wonderin if there s anythin u would sugesst to feed her to stop this? Was thinkin of biotin but what are your rhoughts?
 
They will still chip. They are like fingernails, but if your horses feet are tough enough to do all her daily things without destroying her feet this is why you go barefoot. If her feet deteriorate badly then she should probably have shoes.
 
My NF is barefoot, and his feet are fantastic. I feed him dry Nettle and Winter Glow Summer Shine as my farrier recommended them. If your horse has white feet you will notice the hoof will grow with a slight yellow tinge. Don’t worry as this is normal, I noticed a massive difference within 3 months. He has his feet trimmed every 5 weeks, my farrier also takes measurements every time to see any change especially with the spring grass and we change his diet accordantly. During the summer he has his feet hosed for 20mins to keep them moisturised.
 
Shy's chip occasionally, especially when it's dry. I use aqueous cream on them (outside and in) and they now seem a lot stronger. I've also started giving him a mug of Spillers Lite Balancer a day, as that has a hoof formula in it, just to be sure.

I wonder if your horse's feet are simply being left too long, and she is chipping them off to try to get them to the right length. Barefoot horses in hard work do not usually have anything much in the way of an obvious hoof wall when you look at the underside of the foot.

Another cause of chipping is fungal infection between the inner and outer hoof wall. This can be treated, but if you feed her right it should grow out.

M's chip too a tiny bit but thats because they are due a trim. Are they mustang rolled? This always helps.
 
It could be that shes due a trim. Been 7wks today. Will try take a foto but don't knw how well it will come out as bit dark. But do notice before they are due a trim
