I just give up. I was expecting to hear something this week...but no. I was hoping my saddle would be here by tomorrow...but no. I gave the UK side of the operation, Horse and Harmony, a chance (being patriotic and all)....but no. Hubs was ready to order immediately from Germany......but no.

I'm back to looking at my options again, as the whole Barefoot Experience has turned from a very exciting new - saddle prospect, to a whole load of disappointment. I have a borrowed a no - name treeless saddle from the RDA, and very comfy it is too. I have also tried their Copperbeech saddle, and although it too small for me, it's very comfy.

So much for an exciting birthday present, eh. Thanks, Barefoot. Not.

(ps I've put a few threads on here about my BF saga, if you want any more info, please pm me).

A friend had the same issue with this website last week over a Barnes Buckle.

Took the money out of her account and then told her they're not in stock:(

I've ordered 2 Barefoot saddles over the years. The first arrived more or less straight away but the second one took about 2 months to arrive. Everytime I phoned I was told 'we are still waiting for the shipment from Germany they will be here on such and such a date' then the date changed 3 times, I was getting fed up waiting and nearly asked for my money back but hung on and eventually it arrived. However I never had it for very long as I went back to treed.

Thats a real shame, specially when you have waiting and looking forward to getting it, if you know from the start that they order will take a long time it doesn't matter so much because you know how long you have to wait so you can forget about it for a while.

I've spoken to DreamTeam today regarding the Freeform which they are agents for, had lengthy chat about them (which I'm going to get on trial) and if I want one they said they would have one in stock (if the trial one in suitable) and have the whole package out in 4 working days, having said that I she said I could keep the one they send me out if it's suitable so that's good to know if I decided to have it....although I'd have to sweet talk my dad in the meantime ;)

I'm looking at Dream Team - they have £100 off if you order from their website too. Or maybe a second hand phoenix ?

but tbh, at the moment I'm just so saddled-out, and so very disappointed, I cannot be bothered. :(

I've always been a bit of a naysayer regarding DT saddles.

However my friend has just purchased one and I have had to eat humble pie.

It is a very nice, well made, comfortable saddle.

And this mare was a real b***h to fit as well.

Chin up Mrs.

I'd give them a call, I think the Dream Team saddle is probably more suited to cob types hence why I'm going for the Freeform to try but you may be able to get that saddle on trial and I sure she may be able to talk prices with you too, worth a try, and if your happy with the trial saddle and you want to buy one, they knock the trail price off the price of the saddle.

My mother has bought a dream team saddle for her warmblood X cob who has one shoulder larger than other (due to an accident) and no saddler could find a saddle he was comfortable in, bucking, etc. The DT saddle has sorted out all his problems, its very comfy and he is back to being a happy horse with no bucking.

With regards to Horse & Harmony, i am waiting for a bitless bridle now for quite a few weeks, was told it was out of stock and they were waiting for a delivery from USA, i emailed them last week and was told the delivery was on route from USA and expected in this week, Just hope it turns up!

Hmmmmmm, I really do not know what to do. Shy is striding out brilliantly in treeless, so it is the right way to go for us ( I love the close contact and feel of treeless too).

Anyway, I've had a quick mooch on ebay, but tbh, it's all just too much for me now - I might just buy this no-namer off the RDA as it's so comfy  until I can come to a decision. It's just so wonderful to be able to ride again :)

Just don't buy one of those beach saddles (does that cover me from naming??) they fall apart for a past time, regardless of how comfortable they might be!

just to say they dont trial dream saddles, i phoned up about doing so last week and was told that they cant economically make saddles that price and have one for trial-makes no sense to me as you are paying £50 for the pleasure of doing so.
Must put off more people (like me!) than they save on costs really

What sort of treeless are you looking for? Any what's your budget? I may be able to help...supply several styles of treeless saddle including being a rep for a great American brand. PM me if you are interested... :)

It would be so nice to hear about any company that is worth spending my money with tbh, and that wants my business and will look after me. All I want is the best for Shy (and me too of course), without any hassle, just to be able to do our long hacks and swims in the river. And pub rides ;)

OH - have pm'd you !! Thanks so much :)

Got an email today, and the shipment is still "en route", I think they must be using pedallos !!! :D

Thanks so much to everyone for listening to my drivel about treeless, and for the suggestions I've had by pm. I'm so grateful to y'all.

sm xx

I feel your pain I've been going through this saga for years with my cob. I'm in a Thorowgood T4 cob now and thankfully the saddle fitter said it's the best thing for him and fits as good as anything is going to do cos of his odd shape!! Compromise yes but without thousands of pounds to spend it's what I have to do. :(

I trailed a DT saddle from a friend, absolutely loved it and he went beautifully but the same problem of it being too long for his short back reared it's head so I've given up trying to find one that fits us both.

Good luck I do hope you find a solution, tbh if the saddle you have borrowed is suiting you and your horse is comfortable then I don't see why not buy it? Keep an eye on it and I'm sure it will do fine. I had a Randols treeless for 4 years that I used daily and it only cost me £200 brand new, it's still being very well used by the girl I sold it too (I know cos I tried to buy it back and she was not letting it go for any money!!) so cheap doesn't always mean bad quality.

I have a Dream Team and a Torsion endurance saddle for sale. I bought the Torsion for my youngster when she was being backed but preferred the security of the Dream Team saddle.

Now she is five, she's in a Free 'n' Easy like my other horses as I love these saddles.

So if anyone's interested?
