Equimins metabalance? I always see forage plus and prohoof recommended, but no one ever mentions this? Is it no good? I know they do two formulas, the second of which has more copper and zinc? Is that right? But it has many more ingredients than the forage plus and prohoof, which it think would be very good for my fatties who have very restricted diets. I worry they aren't getting enough nutrients. They currently have 1 5ml scoop of bioplex copper and 2 5ml scoops of bioplex zinc from progressive earth per day - their eBay shop is empty so can't look to see how many mg that is, sorry!

Because they wouldn't sell me copper proteinate when I asked even though I know other people buy it from them and I thought their customer service was rubbish.

I use Equimins Advance Complete powder, had my mare on it a year now and her feet have never been better which, to me, is a good sign of overall health. She's a paddock pet when not being a broodmare, barefoot but doesn't do any work. Very impressed with the stuff but if you can get your hay tested then try and find a balancer to complement it.

We used to recommend it alongside the others but Equimins became nervous when it got popular and started being funny about selling it to new people.

My understanding is that the forumlation of it goes 'off script' as far as standardised balancing software goes. Some minerals are added in more the 100% rda from the NRC (which is why it works so well :p).

But this has the potential to leave Equimins open to litigation if there was a problem with a horse and the owner decided to try it on.

I guess they decided it wasn't worth the risk.

Shame :(

So the product is good then? Just people have trouble getting hold of it? I have ordered formula 1 and fed it for a while, but didn't notice a massive difference. Rather than try formula 2 I dropped it all and fed copper, zinc, magnesium, salt and linseed in speedibeet and hifi molasses free. their feet are super, but I just worry they might be missing out on something since their diet is so restricted to keep the waistlines down. I know they'll sell it to me as have been offered formula 2 before.

Are there any better options? Tbh I would much prefer a single scoop of something rather than lots of scoops of this and that! Prohoof and forage plus are not much more comprehensive than what I already give. I know the only way to tell is to analyse my forage, but they are kept on very limited grazing so get very little from that so no point analysing. And my forage comes from lots of different places and has the life soaked out of it anyway, so a best guess is all I can do. I currently feed the same rates as what is in the forage plus. But are the rest likely to be in my hay and the horses are missing out on nothing so I am worrying unnecessarily? I just think the lack of grass and the fact I soak my hay might mean they aren't getting all their vitamins

I feed MB to 3 of mine and would recomend it. I have also tried prohoof but stopped that as I found the MB to be superior. I use formula 1.

I find their customer service to be excellent. Phone answered quickly, staff friendly, goods dispatched that day and arrive the following.
What's not to like?!!
