Barefoot TB is doing well. Acquired some Cavello Simple boots for his fronts last week and have been walking out in hand in them. Well just one week, and typical darn TB's like to make life difficult and I think he needs them behind as well.

Feels like cheating somewhat, but have heard a lot of people say to begin with TBs often need boots to begin with.

Shall I go for it and get some?
Are they different boots for hinds or are they just the same as the ones that go on the front?
If I'm doing it, I might as well go for it, he's looking happy in his front boots, so hoping that with boots all round, I could start doing some proper hacking again?

Thanks :)

I think if he's not comfortable behind then you may as well. How long has he been out of shoes? You might find you need a different sort for backs as the shape of the feet tends to be different - they are usually more narrow. I think Cavallo Sports are better for this shape, or you could try Old Macs as you can put inserts in the side. I have borrowed some Old Macs for my WB and he's getting on really well in them. Ordered some Cavallo Simple boots which I thought might be easier but unfortunately they are too small, so can't comment on those.

My mare loves her boots. I used to put them on every other ride to help her adjust and now I put them on when she is having sore days or for longer rides. I have Old Macs G2 hoof boots and they are great. Mine has been barefoot a while (8ish months) but we have had a few issues along the way so still sometimes use the boots now.

Great, this sounds like the right idea, what I wanted to try and do :)

What size are his front ones?

Your trimmer should know, if you aren't sure.

Cavellos are a size 2, but wondering whether he needs a 3 for the right fore one.
Im just waiting for trimmer to get back to me :)
