OK so here's one for all your Barefoot fans........

Firstly, which is "the" Barefoot saddle which you'd buy if you had free choice and an unlimited (;)) budget????

Then, can someone please enlighten me about the pommel inserts: I think they come with the Medium one in as standard? And if you want anything else you have to buy it???

So how do the pommel sizes equate (roughly) to horse/pony sizes & types??? For instance, I've got one horse who takes a 3XW (Purple) Wintec gullet, and the other is sized for the XW (lilac)....... so how would these measure up on a Barefoot?

And what about the soft pommel insert? When would you use this???

I like something with knee rolls. Have tried the Cheyenne, was Awful!. Tried a Cherokee as it looked like it had knee rolls - didn't like it! Tried a London size 1, was lovely & comfy, BUT too small :( - so am thinking of looking for one in size 2 on e-bay.

Dunno if anyone has any thoughts/comments/insight??

Thanks.

I love my Cherokee but it did take a bit of getting used to!

Re the inserts, the best thing to do is print out the fitting guide:
http://files.storeland.ru/web/upload/sitefiles/6/537/536393/Lekalo_dlia_sedla.pdf
I use a bendy artist curve thing - mould it to the shape of the withers and draw it on the guide - if it comes out in the middle of two sizes then go for the bigger size.

I think all new saddles come with a medium insert and you have to buy the others separately. They do sometimes come up on eBay and Preloved though. The soft insert is for horses with super sensitive withers.

Eta - it's really important to use a proper treeless pad. I ended up buying the Barefoot physio pad which cost a fortune but was worth it!

Happy hunting!

I've got a London, although I did wish I'd bought the lexington afterwards...

I use socks filled with soft toy stuffing instead of the pommel as my lad is an XXW.

Ahhh, the Lexington. Yes I saw that on the website, and it looks fantastic.

I'm such a numpty......... bought a saddle on Preloved. Seller said it was a "Cherokee", size 1. It isn't apparently!!! Its a London, and is a very small size, probably a size zero!!! LOL :)

Have tried a Cherokee Size 2 and it was WAY too big for both me and the horse(s). Which was a huge pity as I thought the Cherokee size 2 would suit me.

So, hey ho, back to the drawing board!!! :)

I've recently bought a Barefoot Notting hill and both me and my horse love it. She's a 14.1 section D for whom I'd bought 3 saddles in a little over 2 years - So I decided to try treeless.
She was previously nappy when hacked out and grumpy about being tacked up - but now she's a happy, forward going girl and I cant believe the difference in her.
3 friends have had a sit on it and none of them like it! I've come to the conclusion that its a bit like marmite - you either love it or hate it and you really have to try one to find out.
