I GOT IN TOUCH WITH THE TRIMMER AFTER DIAGNOSIS OF DDFT TEAR IN FOOT, THAT HORSE HAS BEEN UNSHOD FOR 2 YEARS AND HIS FEET HAVE BEEN TRANSFORMED. THEN GOT THE TRIMMER TO TAKE OVER FROM FARRIER TRIMMING A RETIRED HORSE, FARRIER USED TO SPEND ABOUT 10 MINS ON HER AND LEFT HER TOES V LONG. THEN ALSO GOT TRIMMER TO DO MY 3, NOW 4 YEAR OLD, FARRIER HAD HER FRONT FEET LIKE DINNER PLATES WITH LOADS OF FLARE, HE JUST SAID THAT SHE WAS A TB SO WHAT DID I EXPECT? HER FEET ARE NOW 100% BETTER AS WELL AND SHE IS HAPPY ON ALL SURFACES. NOT PLANNING TO SHOE HER UNLESS I HAVE TO, BUT PROB WILL DO SO ONLY FROM MARCH TO OCT.
THE SAME TRIMMER NOW ALSO DOES FRIEND'S HORSE'S FEET, HE WAS IN HEART BAR SHOES UNDER HIS (DIFFERENT TO MINE) FARRIER FOR 3 YEARS AND HIS FEET WERE TERRIBLE WITH TOTALLY COLLAPSED HEELS. HE IS SO MUCH BETTER NOW AND VERY COMFORTABLE UNSHOD AS WELL.
OVERALL I FEEL MY FARRIER IS OK WITH STRAIGHTFORWARD EASY FEET, HE HAS NOT DONE A BAD JOB ON MY MARE. HOWEVER, ANYTHING CHALLENGING FORGET IT, HE HAS A ONE SIZE FITS ALL APPROACH AND IS TOO KEEN TO PUT SHOES ON!

Yes ,two ponies barefoot ,I seem to be one of very few round here. Don't use boots but would if I needed them.I trim them since my trimmer decided it was too far for him to come anymore. Was paying £45 for each pony.I rasp when I feel they need it,once a fortnight at present and I try to use the Hoof Guided Method. If I could find a trimmer I would!
