Just musing about the possibilities of trialing a barefoot trimmer sorting Dante's feet rather than the farrier. Our usual farrier has told us that he will not travel to the new yard, although we do know a local farrier who will come to us anyway and is perfectly good.

However, I do not know much about barefoot trimmers, at all. I've heard bad things, and good things, but not payed much attention (having had only shod horses!) but would like to see if Dante can go totally without shoes, he currently just has front ones and has been happy like that since he had the hinds off about 2 months ago.
The only thing that's made me think about it is that most farriers seem to not really take much time over doing 'just a trim' when they could be shoeing. (this is only from my experience!) And I do understand that when you know what you are doing, it probably doesn't take long. It just makes me wonder if it could be done better :)

So.... thoughts? And suggestions if anyone knows someone they would really recommend in Cheshire?

Thanks

I use Darren McLean (EPAUK) and am very happy with him.

A friend uses Julie Bailey (UKNHCP) and again is very happy with her

A couple in my RC use Sarah Braithwaite and yes, you've guessed it, are very happy with her.
