Barefoot vs unshod

Good, but if she does feel stones, especially in spring, then you could try adding yeast to that, it really helps the digestion which helps the feet. Brewers yeast or Yea-sacc both do the job well.

Oh thats interesting thank you. She is generally ok its just on the drive where we have had gravel put down to cover the mud

what effect does yeast have? and where is the best place to buy please?

It suppresses one thing that causes inflammation in the gut and it promotes another that reduces inflammation in the gut. Better digestion often takes away the last footiness in a barefoot horse.

You can buy both on eBay, but the cheapest way to buy brewers yeast is to get a 25 kilo sack from Charnwood Milling.

You'll need about 40 grams a day of BY or 15 grams a day of yea-sacc. It's more expensive but you feed less of it because it is a live yeast where brewer's yeast has already been used to make beer/lager and is a dead yeast.

Think I like the sound of the second one thank you **pops off to ebay to start shopping**

Mine is unshod as he is out if work. If and when he comes back into work he will have shoes on again. I always think barefoot means you look more into it as a way of keeping the horse forever, using boots and changing diet etc.
