So ive just took my horses back shoes off and i was just wondering how to maintain healthy hooves, also do you think i should take all 4 shoes off eventually?

Research, research, research, spend your evenings doing lots.
Firstly diet must be addressed to give the horse a chance of a healthy foot. What's he currently fed?
Hinds are a lot easier than fronts and you may need to buy boots for the fronts to start with. Watch what your farrier trims off!!
It really is a mine field going barefoot and you will learn so much along the way but be perpaired to be committed to it.

If he is the horse in your siggy then he looks the type to do it easily. If the backs are no problem, try the fronts. If he doesn't get comfortable on the fronts pretty quickly, then look at his diet. Many horses are fine with no diet changes, but a fair proportion need a low sugar diet, extra magnesium, yeast and restriction of their grass, especially during daytime in spring/summer.

Thanks to both of you, she is getting on really well with her back feet, i think ill try her front ones. shes on grass a lot of the time, will it affect her very much then?
