We have my grans yorkshire terrier to look after whilst gran is in hospital. Shes settled quite well and even took to us getting Griffin whilst she has been here.
The thing is she has always barked constantly. But since she has been here she has taken to barking at our 3 cats and totally ignoring us when we shout her to come in. As soon as you pick keys up she barks, as soon as she hears a car she barks, phone rings she barks etc.
Its starting to upset not only us, the neighbours and the cats but Brian and Griffin too.
We are at a loss as to what to try.

It will be hard to break if it has been ingrained for years. My dog is very yappy, the key is being very calm and quiet around him (me?!) and rewarding him whenever he is quiet (with food or something) and the longer he is quiet, the higher the reward. You can also try putting her out of the room and letting her back in when she is quiet but again this takes a lot of time and patience. With some dogs you can shock them out of it with a loud noise but with others this winds them up further, depends on her character type.

Hope your Gran is OK.
