Hopefully all the warnings are just a storm in a teacup (excuse the pun!) but just wondering

my barn has windows on east and west sides (alleyway runs north to south with big open ends).

If I shut the west side windows (wind comes from south west) but leave a couple of the east ones open will any wind that gets in be able to get out of the open windows without lifting my roof off - or does it not really work like that??

We're going to park large trailers at the north and south openings to deflect wind - but again would we be better leaving them open so wind can blow straight through un interrupted?

If the barn is unstable enough that wind through windows will cause damage, then the wind will have already caused significant structural problems to the rest of the barn.

In other words, should be fine. Everything is built/ designed with mega safety factors now, to the point that when I'm running calcs on stuff I can have up to 4 in effect per calculation. Foundations would be the biggest problem I reckon for a structure like a barn...

Thanks - hopefully you're right but warnings of structural damage to buildings aren't helpful in the press.

Concrete slab is 12m by 26m built on easily 2 feet of hardcore then concrete by the mixer load - if that lifts - s*d the horses my house will be in real trouble!!
Then barn is breeze block on that with large concrete (I think) roof sheets, just worried about wind wobbling the sheets off, it does rattle around when it's windy in there.

If you search under The Physics of Roofs Lifting there's a good article that explains about internal pressurisation causing the roof to lift. Sounds like if you can't stop the wind getting in in the first place then make sure it can get out. Good luck , hope it's not too bad
