in my quest to use buckle-less leathers but know they won't come off my jump saddle, i've found the Barnes Buckle Pro, which attaches to top of stirrup, between stirrup and leather, and comes off if the angle and pull changes dramatically (i.e. rider being dragged).
with these i'd be able to put the ends of the stirrup bars up to lock the leathers in place and not worry about it...
has anyone used them? will they fit on Sprengers, or Sprenger Bow Balance? thanks!

A couple of people hunted in them with us a few seasons ago. Never saw them (the riders) come off though to test them!
They don't seem to ride in them anymore, could ask them if they still have them burried somewhere in their tack boxes if you wish?? They had them on normal fillis irons from what I remember??

Think Missdemeena has them

k9h, that would be very kind, thankyou! have ordered one pair, will see how i get on, but if i'm using buckle-less leathers when backing the youngsters this year, with stirrup bars up, i'll need a pair or two for their saddles as well... not that brave/crazy!

I've used them for eventing.  Fortunately haven't come off yet so don't know if they work, but am sure they do.I don't use them now, so you could have borrowed them to try them out.  I'm not sure if they'll fit on those stirrups as they didn't fit on a pair of mine. The reason why I stopped using them is that they can make a slight noise and if my foot slipped throught the stirrup (true Andrew Nicholson style !) I found they bruised the front of my leg.  Probably wouldn't happen with decent riding boots and better riding though.

Yep, i have two pairs, one for my jumping saddle at home, and one for my racing saddle at work... reason being that i like to ride Andrew Nicholson style with my whole foot in the iron, and hate the thought of being dragged should i come off... (manic touching of wood) i've not come off to test them out in the last few years that i've had them (i've fallen off, but always forwards, ie not the sort of fall where you're likely to be dragged, therefore my foot has always come out)...
So i can't tell you how well/if they'd work should you be dragged, but i'll always ride with them for peace of mind

I have the old bulky style, and the new pro style... have to say tho, the first time i rode with the new pro style, one of the plates popped off for no reason

although the iron stayed in place, this still worried me (i doubt it would have stayed there if i was riding XC) so i now tape them on with electrical tape, which i'm sure would break at the right time, but would also hold things in place should the above situation arise again...

no no no no never again will i ride in them!!!

They decided to pop off when i was going over a drop in my 1st ever intro must have been due to the way i angled my foot but still i wouldn't trust them as far as i could throw them so used the funny bent leg stirrups until last season when i bought a lovely pair of light weight ones!!
