And it says that there are no eggs seen in this sample. So in theory does that mean I do not have to worm him? The worming programme I am currently on (about 15 people on our yard use it) is due to worm double dose on 1st april so do I just not bother then get another count done in a few months?

I got a count done when I bought him ( a year ago) but have since then followed their worming programme as I thought it neccesary as 40ish horses are turned out together, most get wormed at different times, some never so I thought hed have some worms at least.

Should I still worm for tape worm? The seet says that the result for tapeworm is not a definate result due to the way tapeworm eggs are released.

You should most definately worm for tapeworm as the count does not include that.

Had Amy's back as well which stated no eggs shown. I will still carry on worming as normal because she is on livery. But was very interested to get the results.

Thanks for putting us in touch with Abbey.

You do need to cover tapeworms, I presume that is what the yard are double dosing for early April? In fact these days with better drugs that don't need double dosing I'd suggest that they look at that.

But no need to worm for 'ordinary' worms as such, but you may need to consider encysted need removing in spring when active.

You can now get a wormer that will do encysted and tapeworms all in one go.

You still need to keep your horse wormed as they can quickly build up, especially if you are on a yard with other horses sharing fields.
