barrier creams for sarcoids to stop flies??

My mare has several nasty sarcoids which are being treated but I am struggling to find something to protect them from the flies which stays where I put it! One is in girth area, several on inner thigh and one by eye (actually the eye one is ok with sudocrem but I think she must rub it off rolling and generally being a plonker in the field (shes only 3!). I have tried vaseline and sudocrem - any other ideas? And any really good fly remedy recommendations?!

I have used Crest toothpaste on some small, unreactive sarcoids to stop them being got at but have no idea if that would react to the treatment you are using.
 
yellow fly cream. It's brilliant for stopping flies biting/ landing on the horse. I have been using it on sarcoids for years
 
I use filtabac cream as a barrier cream. Works wonders. Currently using it to stop flies eating horses ears to death as she wont keep a fly mask on.

I got it from my vet for a open wound on my horses leg last summer to stop flies eating it and it has proved a valuable item in first aid box.

Will this stain the horse or would it wash off with some shampoo? - just thinking of getting it myself but I show and I don't think the judges would be too impressed with a yellow horse! :o
 
Yes it might stain, but does work very well. A cheap alternative is to get a half kilo tub of petroleum jelly and mix in a teaspoon of kerosene lighter fluid. Pungent, but does the trick.
