He went earlier today. I think he's going to have a nice life with her, and be well looked after.
I know it was the right thing to do, so although I was sad (and had a major wobbly bottom lip moment getting him in from the field) seeing him go wasn't as bad as I was expecting. He had a new friend waiting for him, so I hope they get on :) I've just had photos of him and his new friends in their stables, they've got a window so they can snuggle :)

Now I am back to being horseless. My plan is to go to a trekking place in the Peak to have some fun, and some lessons at a yard that has a good reputation. I've been busy looking at places to ride whilst I'm out in Texas, then look at shares when I get back. My PhD funding runs out at the end of Sept so I'm going to wait for my first proper grown up job before buying again (or my dad might kill me :p).

Its great to see while sad for you your post is full of smiling smilies cos he is clearly going to a good home and you have done the right thing for you both :)

Yes, as lovely as he was it wasn't a fair reflection on him that I had to gear myself up mentally for every hack because he's a nicely behaved lad who is good! He's gone to a lady who is used to bigger horses (her other is 17.2, Barry is 16.1) so to her he's small...he was a giant to me! She has said I am welcome to visit, and it would be nice to see him settled in so I think I will take her up on that offer in a couple of weeks.

It's onwards and downwards (in height!) for me :p
