Now Kalli is kitted out in her new WOW saddle, her old Barry swain is for sale.

It's a truely beautiful saddle and the wide seat and panels are amazing. BUT it has a narrow distance between the top of the panels at the front, and it seems to be fairly standard for all the other Barry Swains I've seen on ebay?

It's actually the reason we swapped to a WOW saddle - she's withery but very broad across the spine at the withers, and the panels were pinching her spine. I actually had to have the panel arch at the front split so the tree points could be extended and the panels moved to sit wider apart (since 'repaired' and all back as it was).

The channel at the back is amazing a full 4 fingers width. But the channel at the front is no wider - if you look at it from above it's the same width all the way along - all other saddles get a bit wider towards the front.

Now, I do really like the BS saddles otherwise and was wondering if that is standard for them? Does anyone have pictures of BS saddles from the under side, or the front? I'd love to get one for my wide boys later but not if they're all like that. (they're rare so it's hard to find any to look at and see)

I have six and all mine are wider at the front than the back with a good width right the way through the gullet. I have a mix of saddles all with half panels, 2 holistic, 2 standard tree and 2 wide tree. I also have dressage, jump and GP so quite a vatiety to check. I don;t have any photos of them from underneath sorry.

Mine is also wider at the front than the back of the gullet. It was made to measure but the trees will all be pretty much standard so cant understand why yours (and presumeably ones you are looking at) would be narrower in front.
