Hi There,

Just had to post a little brag. My pup yesterday qualified for a really exciting Stakes Final. Basically, at about 50% of the shows they have "Stakes" classes each day, you're up against any dogs of the groups on that day within the age group 6-18 months. Maya won on Friday beating all the other Hounds and Toys so we had to return yesterday to compete against the winners from the other two days. Anyway, my little baby was pulled out as the overall winner for the whole show and she now goes forward to the Grand Final in October! Im so pleased with her, she showed so well and really did us proud

Here are some pictures of her in the breed class (my mum handling):

well done she is lovely, we have had basenjis in the family for years, unfortuately the last 2 died of old age all have been rescues, they r a great breed in the right understanding hands

Thanks all.

Basenji's are a wonderful breed, still fairly unheard of i think. When im out walking Maya i usually get asked what my Jack russell is crossed with... And once someone asked me if she was a smooth coated border collie!!lol But they do certainly need a home that understands their unique characters and temperments otherwise i can quite imagine they are awful to live with. Luckily, after many years researching the breed i was actually expecting things to be harder than they have been with Maya so she has just been a joy to live with!

Congratulations, she is a lovely looking bitch. Have you just got the one basenji? You must have your hands full with all your dogs

Yes, just the one basenji! I also have 3 pugs and a labrador (soon to have my two pug pups coming home!) so they definately keep me busy! They are my hobby though and all my spare time is spent with them, they even come to help me with the horses. I wouldnt have it any other way
