Hi everyone

was wondering if any of you have or have ridden in the Bates caprilli dressage saddle? and what your opinions are? I am thinking of one for my cob.

Thanks

i have one! i like them... put you in a good position and interchangable gullet etc :) Only think i would say is because they dont have massive knee or thigh blocks etc, i find them pretty hard to sit to the trot, so if you are thinking of doing loads of sitting trot i would veer more towards an isabell werth wintec, but if not then i like the bates caprilli :)

For a cob I would use the Kent and Masters cob dressage saddle which has the changeable gullets. I currently have their GP cob saddle and saving up for the dressage one. Have heard that the tree on Bates saddles is not always suitable for cobs.

I have a funny feeling the tree wouldn't suit, but to ride in they're lovely! :) I found sitting trot perfectly fine in mine (easier than in my new saddle with bigger knee rolls tbh!) and there's the added bonus that they look great too :p

Love Bates dressage saddle, its really comfortable and sits rider in good position. Had mine for about 5 years now. Its great with the changeable gullet if your horse changes shape, I always have mine checked regularly by my saddler.
