I am toying with the idea of getting a dressage saddle. We currently have a Wintec AP pro. Am I right in thinking that a bates dressage saddle should suit as they are built on the same tree? Are there any other brands that are a similar shape?
His current saddle has been professionally fitted and checked every 6 months so I am happy with the fit, and obviously any second hand saddle I pick up will be checked, I just wanted to make sure I am looking for the right thing!

(Also posted in TR but not much response)?

I have never had much luck getting a wintec to fit my horse, was looking at getting a jumping saddle which would only be used very occasionally. The tree shape was just wrong for my horse. However I have recently purchased a new Bates dressage saddle. It is a totally different to the wintec and fits beautifully, (was fitted by a good saddle fitter)

I had a Bates Innova and found the tree quite curvy, so what I would expect of a Wintec. However, recently my friend tried a new one of them and it was much flatter and with a wider twist too, so felt like a different saddle! I'd say you have to try one to know given they seem to be changing them.
