I'm hoping to get a bates saddle for the new horse - he's only just turning 6 so will still change shape - as I've read lots of good things about them.

Has anyone got any experience of the Isabell and Inova models? What are the main difference in the ride / feel of the saddles? Do either fit any type of horse better? New horse is a fairly fine ISH.

They are expensive and I'm a bit confused and want to make sure I get the right one for me.

Thanks

I have an innova in brown, its beautiful! Leg position is fantastic in it, all my horses tack is brown and it was actually cheaper than the black version! I Love it!

that's good to know thanks.

It's quite hard to find dressage saddles (esp. second hand) in brown. I like you always have had brown tack but was thinking I may have to give up and get black for dressage (and then a new bridle too).

Apparently traditionally it was frowned upon to have black tack for ridden horses as only carriage horses had black.

I have the Bates Isabell and would highly recommend it! fits my horse and me very well, gives me a great leg position. Have never had an Inova so cant comment on that!

I think the isabell and the innova are like marmite people either love or hate them!

I really rate the innova puts you in a good position and feel secure but not restricted. Your best bet would be to see if any local saddlers will let you have a sit on one on a saddle horse. Obviously they have to fit your horse too.

Happy shopping! :)
