Bates saddles,any good,comfy??

hi,i may try and get a bates leather,adjustable GP saddle off ebay.Is the GP comfy and good 4 flat work and jumping?whats best..cair or wool flooking??(any difference to ride in?)thanks all

I don't know anything about them except they are an exact copy of a wintec saddle just in leather - which would be cheaper.

I love my Bates Caprilli GP saddle, soooo comfy and puts me in a good position. It actually makes me feel a lot more confident

I have 2 Wintecs aswell as the Bates and I have to say the seat on the Bates is a lot better than the Wintec. The Wintec seems flatter

and not as secure.

Hmm not keen have sat in serveral and have never liked the way I sat in them- but I have been spoilt for saddles so prob just me!

I have a bates, it is amazing! It was so comfortable compared to all the other saddles I tried.
Feel really secure in it too.

The Gp's are horrible, BUT IMHO all GP's are horrid

Bates saddles are lovely, I have the momentum, and it is beautifully made, but dont think it will fit everything just cos it has a changeable gullet, it wont

I have the bates momentum too, tis a fab saddle.
No gp saddles fit my horse, and it's good having both a dressage and a jumping one

I tried a Bates Caprilli GP about 18 months ago - I didn't like it and I wasn't impressed with the quality. If you specifically want a GP there are better ones out there IMO.

I had the bates VSD general purpose, it wasn't any good for jumping because of the straighter cut, so i bought the bates momentum which is just fantastic, worth the extra money.

I have a bates caprilli 17.5 in brown which i no longer need

. Must add it to my sig!!

It was fine but I upgraded to a wow because having had the bates I realised my horse went better with air panels. It has the adjustable blocks but tbh I wouldnt have wanted to jump more than about 3'6 in it. But then if you were regularly jumping that you'd get a jumping saddle! I found it very comfortable. The benefit is you can change the headplate easily yourself if the horse changes shape.

I have the Bates Caprilli close contact jump saddle and I love it - it's a very neat saddle, moveable knees blocks are a great idea and you can get decent secondhand ones off of ebay - I got a bargain!
