I had a saddle fitter out yesterday and he fitted a bates elevation saddle to my horse.
The saddle was very comfy but in comparison to my fairfax dressage saddle it doesn't look to be of the same quality.
I am also concerned about the cait system, although fitter assured me it is a combination of foam and air and wouldn't have any negative effect.

Does anyone have a bates do you like them, do you think they are worth the money?

bates are made by wintec, i like the leather its nice and soft ,but yes the quality of finish is not going to be as good as a kieffer or jaguar and they are priced accordingly i feel. I

love my bates gp, the cair is great for the horses, it is very comfy for me and they all go well in it, it also has the changeable gullet so is a versatile saddle for the money. i use it for endurance and it has caused no problems yet!

I've actually just swopped from an older keiffer to a bates and love it! It's not as comfy as an ideal jessica, but then they were even more money! But am pleased with the saddle I have (which is the caprilli) and actually prefer it to the keiffer.

Really that surprising I would love a kieffer but can't afford one.

The thing that concerns me is that my fairfax is the same price and looks far superior quality.

Another thing is it is actually the ap and I didn't want a gp I wanted a jump. Although horse has high withers and I want a secure saddle. Any suggestions

I got a Bates GP about 6 years ago for my first horse it was the best saddle I could afford new at the time, but I wouldn't be without it now I love it and its so comfy I recently rode my friends horse for her who has a £2500 Ideal saddle and my 6yr old Bates was so much more comfy. I like the cair system too I am now on my third horse and still have the same saddle which has been refitted. I recently bought a bates dressage saddle too and when the saddle fitter came out I got the try a number of very good saddles but the bates was by far my favourite.
