Does anyone have the Bateson Deauville? I was set on getting an Ifor Williams but no-one seems to have any 505's left and i dont like the sound or look of the 506's, so thinking about going to look at some other makes. Quite like the look of the Deauville, or does anyone have any other suggestions? Needs to come in under £3500, but would consider a newish 2nd hand one if in good condition.

Also, can anyone recommend somewhere to go and view them in the Surrey/Berks/Hants/West Sussex areas?

Cheers

I think batesons are much better than ifors, and the front ramps unload on the near side, which is a bonus, but then i am biased

Would prefer a Bateson over an Ifor any day. Hate the Ifors....seen too many horses take skin off their hips because the exit door is so narrow.

My Bateson is fantastic!! We have the Ascot, which is the biggest one (not sure why...we have ponies!!) It tows brilliantly, we have been up to four hours away with it, with either my mare or the gelding I ride. My OH's socking great TB fits in there quite happily too.

Have also got the full width breast and breeching bars for travelling mare and foal.

We would definatly get another Bateson if we were to change. The people at Bateson are brilliant too, with any queries or parts.

Got a Bateson Deauville - really happy with it and agree with comments on here. Had a Ifor 510 but it got stolen; another problem with them apparently as they asr easy to re-sell - less Bateson's around and i have personalised it too! Got mine up here and am very happy with the service i receive/d!

I have a Deauville, love it to bits. The horse loads easily, it's light & airy & tows smoothly & quietly. It takes up to 17h horses & in my opinion it's better engineered than the Ifors. Several friends have bought a Bateson after looking round mine & they re very happy with them also.

Ifors don't even have external tie rings, you have to tie up to the framwork? What's all that about?

You should pick up a really nice one for the budget you have.

I use a Bateson Deauville for my little dartie and love it it,it is airy and light as well as strong and stable to tow. We also have the boston double doors so pony steps in as opposed to walking up a ramp. It has a mini ramp but we never use it, I like this as Tilly is small and I am always afraid she will get squashed by a ramp as she tries to help me when I am loading.

thanks guys. much as i like the Deauville I found a brand new Classic 505 well within budget as they're shifting their old stock now the 506's are out and I've put a deposit on it, pick it up on Tue - cant wait - will be the 1st time I've had my own transport and I'm so excited!

I had a Bateson a few years ago and was really pleased with it. With it being white, a quick hose down and it looked like new again and because it was also white inside it appeared roomier so the horse I had at the time didn't mind going in

It also held it's value really well.
