I was at Bath and West on Saturday watching a friends horse compete, and was really amazed at the professionalism of some of the younger (I mean young teenage) riders competing there.

One rider in particular - Laura Normand, who is only 13, rode better than some professionals I've seen. She was wonderful, and a name I think we'll all get to hear about in the future.

Anyone know her?? She was riding a lovely little chestnut Fernhill Rathsallagh Royal.

I agree, I was there and saw some really lovely young riders and ponies going round, they were confident, and the ponies were having a whale of a time!! Shows the benefits of hunting with the youngsters I think.

Good for her, haven't seen her name before but we have a Fernhill chestnut

I know her. She's a member of the same pony club as me. I am going to forward this link to them. They will be over the moon. The horse is only a youngster too.

There were four Fernhills competing at Tweseldown.

My daughter did her first BE there, she is 11 and her pony is barely 14 hands - they did 36 dressage double clear!! Would have been 2nd but for time faults XC - I'm going to have to look to my laurels!! Her pony who is a cute little roan cob with four white socks had quite a fan club by the end of the day...
