Bathing without a Hose!

I use buckets mostly, with hot water. Only really use a hose when it is very hot.

Mine is grey and needs a lot of washing, but one bucket of soapy, 2 buckets of clear seems to do the trick. She is not a hairy horse though, nor do we get muddy, it is mainly for stable stains.

I do find that hot water is completely different to cold, stuff comes off double quick.

To be fair its not a big drama. I dont hose legs off anyway I brush off dry mud. Too much washing of legs etc is never a good thing.

Obviously you can use it for medical reasons.

Yes, you're right. The thick clay is full of grit and dries the legs out and burns the hair off. Mud fever is a big problem in this area. The only way to deal with it is by using the water pressure from a hose.
I bought Seven day mud away spray once. It was actually quite helpful when we were on clay especially. Might be worth a try for you? ?
