I found an old thread on this and Heiniger Xperience seem to be popular. I can’t find any second hand and new they’re too much.

I have one horse who could do with a bib / low trace clip, a couple of times in winter. I want something as easy to use as possible as a complete novice. They must be battery powered as no mains electricity where I keep my horse.

Any recommendations? Ideally under £200. I can’t find any second hand, so thinking new.

I bought Masterclip Roamers last year. Very easy to use as a complete novice, never clipped at all until I got these. The only thing I’d say is that they are significantly bigger than the Livery Harmony ones that my friend has and they are a little heavy. However for the amount of clipping I do they are great. As I understand it they also have great customer service although I’ve never needed to use it.

I have the masterclip HD Roamers, I don't have access to electricity either, so couldn't use my old corded ones, have to say I really like them, Not sure I would now go back to my corded heavy duty ones.
I have done 3 or 4 full clips on my old girl plus regular hogging and trimming etc, they are slightly over your budget though.

I'd recommend Masterclip - I have the Rangers although the wired version.

Their customer service is good, I emailed them a while ago when my clippers were only working intermittently, they came back really quickly with all the info. I asked for. I ended up finding the (very simple to fix) problem myself rather than needing to use their repair service, ordered the part which they still stock despite mine being about 8 years old and an older version, and it was here within 48 hours.

I've previously recommended Heiniger clippers and they are fab, but their customer service is probably the worst I (and others on here) have ever experienced, and for that reason I will never ever recommend the company to anyone ever again.

This is the horse I need to clip. This is after she was professionally clipped last year. She was in a lot more work, she’s currently coming back from an injury, so a bib / low trace should be fine.

I love the Liveryman Harmony Plus. They're so quiet that they're less stressful for me to use as a clipping novice, and Blue actually dozed off while I was clipping her with them. You will need the battery pack, though, which might bump them above your budget.

I’ve just ordered a set so I’m really glad to hear that. They were a little over budget with two blades. Now to learn to clip!!
