Have I any chance of doing a full clip with these? Don't have mains electricity so can't use plug-in ones. I'm trying to clip a v. fluffy Connemara cross! Not sure I'd be able to get his coat off...just wanted to know before buying any!

Thanks!

Do you mean the wee handheld jobs that range from £10-£50? Honestly no you don't have a hope

My advice is get a battery powered set of clippers, Lister do some great ones called Liberty

Yesterday we clipped both our boys (18h Irish draught and 16.2h Clydesdale X) with our pair of Moser HorseLine rechargeable clippers...we don't have electricity either. They cost about £200 quid but will do both horses on one charge. They are very quiet too, great for the nervous types.

These clippers are fab! We've got them, and are easy to use, fairly quiet and the battery lasts for atleast two big horse, full clips.

Hi
A little while back I asked a similar question, I have a welsh shire that lives out and has no power in his field. He had very poor legs due to mites that I wanted to clip so I could get cream on his legs,. However he hates clippers and noise and was a big problem before I had him. We started off with scissors and moved up to cordless dog trimmers (No use for a clip, but they got him used to the noise) after some months and a message to the forum I brought a set of Liveryman battery pack clippers, they have a pack that sits on your waist band and a short flexi cable. They appear great and last for about three hours when charged. They can get warm at the blades if not carefull so follow the standard clipping instructions. If noise is an issue they have two speeds and the slower speed is quiet. He generally stands still now and lets me clip his legs without fuss. I have no doubts these would do a full clip having used them and having taken advice from the forum. I hope this helps Ian

I have a set of cordless, think they are called Wahl Moser Avalon. I use them to clip a very fluffy and dense coated NF. I also have the hand held wahl pro for doing the fiddly bits round the head. I have never had a problem with them, and people have commented that they can actually have a conversation with me when they are on. The baldes are also clip on so you don't have to worry about tensioning a spring. I love them, more to the point, pony isn't bothered by them either.

Ooo and the battery charge lasts for 3 hours, so all you have to do is make sure they are charged...a full clip being quicker to do than a blanket????
