Hello

Sorry for numpty question but I have googled it and can't find out.

Have very bright bay foal - 5 days old which was born with no foal fluff (TB x WB). She has no black points at all. Mum bay dad heterozygous coloured. Presumably I'm safe from her being chestnut but could she turn grey? Seems unlikely to me though. Sorry no photo as I can work out how to do it.

Foal colours are great diversions arent they?!! I've seen all sorts this year and am still waiting to see what colour one foal will be (born in April :D !!). He started out looking like a true black (with that ghostly steel tinge to his coat), now his foal coat has bleached to a fawn type colour (still with no points, his legs are almost beige!!) but everything underneath is very dark... but maybe not black???!!! I don't know, I guess I will find out eventually!!!

My filly was born BRIGHT chestnut (!) and is now moulting out to be about as dark a chestnut as I have seen...

A lot of summer foals are born with very fine coats which dont look to be 'fluffy' but will still go through a moult as time progresses - do you think perhaps your new arrival might do this? :)

possibly - I've just been to have a poke around and her ears defo black skin. Also she is out in the rain and her hocks do look darker. Phew.

Haven't I read somewhere on here that blacks are more likely to be born with black legs? Love all this geneticky stuff, fascinating, all part of the fun of having foals I think :)
