Baydale's Boys: An update and Lionel Dunning lesson vids

I've had time to watch the vids now.

Jup looks loads stronger, still has attitude but it's not so 'bad ass' more teenager! He looks straighter, not so much 'which way?'

Cal really reminds me of Floss, the answer with her was to go for a really mild bit (simple Nathe) and keep hold at all times. Like Cal a 'pull' results in head in the air complaining but the engine keeps running underneath. She needs the security of the constant light contact otherwise she'll duck out or put in a really dirty stop.

Marty is just Marty!

Cal is very similar to Floss then, I can see interesting times ahead.

At least he won't be permenantly in season!

Heaps of talent but in Floss's case the combination of her very quick brain and a young jockey put a cap on the ability. Wouldn't swap her for the world though as there isn't a nasty bone there, just 'queeky'

Definitely a marked difference N! He's certainly more like mum now in attitude (Peaches was a law unto herself!), though I don't think anyone will believe me that he was backed, entire at 3 in a nathe and took to it all like a duck to water and was so sweet and mild mannered......even after his summer break when he went to sam's after being cut he was a very amenable young man lol, though I quite like the attitude and character he's developed, he really thinks he is something now - which he is!

Makes me laugh to see him pulling and bouncing, dragging you down to a fence and I can just imagine him going "er actually, I'm not very sure now, maybe I won't bother", I'm sure it's just a phase and he'll soon be out of it.

As for the growing upwards.....I told you a while back he's trying to catch the big posh hunters up! lol ;)

I shall check next time I have loads of time on the internet.
No connection at home right now, so having to grab time when Im passing the pub.

Glad Skiing was fun :) it feels cold enough for damn skiing here lol

Well done you all looking well, Do so like Jup he looks very classy now just pinging off the floor!! I couldn't have coped with 3 sessions like that on the trot and I am hale and hearty if a bit ancient and definitely not brave!

Do many small children fall off in their lessons with you? ;)

You could do a lot worse than have a Jup-a-like - maybe she went travelling from Yorkshire to Ireland for her gap year? :p

I only lost one this weekend! Although last weekend was a different story, two hit the deck at the exact same time. I've started a new rule, those that fall off have to buy me chocolate as an apology :D :D

If Mally grows into as nice a horse as Jup I will be more than chuffed! And sending the ride to you, as I don't think I'll stand a chance :D Today she demonstrated her wide range of acrobatics on the lunge, mainly seeing how long she can keep all four feet off the ground at once. I feel she has set a new world record! :D

I can cope with queeky as long as I have a method for dealing with it; thankfully Lionel is helping me with that as I'd no doubt be fumbling about in the wilderness and being dumped at 90cm oxers on a regular basis otherwise. :o

I imagine he is a chip off the old Peaches block, bless him. He does make me laugh though, as he's so up for everything then gets there and goes "err, what do I do now?!" It certainly keeps me sharp, or finds me out when I'm snoozing. :o

Never mind the excuses, I hope you're stocked up on all the eventing gear that you need for this season, registration done and all ready to go? ;) Jup could do workers, don't you think, but I might lose a massive amount of marks when the ride judge got on.

That's one way of keeping your chocolate store filled up.;)

Jup has athleticism in abundance, containing that without completely squashing his personality is the biggest challenge I've ever come across with a horse. Help! We can compare notes. ;)

They all agree that me pushing them off doesn't count, so I'm having to think up even more cunning ways of toppling them - I stuck up some big grids today in the hope of filling my cupboards, but no luck :D :D

Comparing notes on what adhesives stick you to the saddle for the longest? I have a crash test dummy for tomorrow - Mally's first time with jockey on the lunge - She takes the complete p!ss out of anyone else on the floor and just plants, so I can't be onboard otherwise I never go anywhere! That's my excuse anyway, and I'm sticking to it :D :D

Hmmmm not quite got round to that small matter of being able to go downhill at a faster pace than slow mincing sideways (bit like snow ploughing!!) with rider wibbling 'that looks like the North face of the Eiger' :o to get over first......and the other small matter of solid fences.

Yep Jup would be a brilliant worker get him to hickstead hardly anyone gets round clear!! I shouldn't worry about the ride judge I'm sure he/she will appreciate him (those push button ones must get so boring!! :D)
