When MT says 'double clear' he seems to mean no jumping faults/no time faults.
This was bugging me all through the eventing sj as well. In my day,a double clear meant two separate clear rounds.
Am I just out of date?

I'm glad you brought this up cos I was confused about him saying 'double clear' - I always thought it meant a 2 clear rounds, ie the second one being a jump-off!
Maybe we are both out of date!

Please can someone explain the reasoning behind this round if it doesn't count?

yes i think i explained it on the other thread, this round plus the nations cup rounds all count towards the individual classification. obviously not everyone is part or a team so they jump the same courses and get a score. at the end of the team contest (though everyone will have jumped in it) the top 35 individuals go through to the first round of the individual final where all the scores are back to zero. the top 20 of that round jump for the medals carrying their first round score through. as you can see it is well complicated and i am happy to be corrected.
thats why the germans for example wont be too concerned about rails at this stage because they know the smaller nations will most likely be overcome in the mations cup rounds and they should therefore make the cut what ever happens today..... i think.....
