BBC fail.....

Spotted a grey horse in a field of sheep but not that it was "emaciated" tbh .... Might have to watch again on catch up.

Meanwhile .... All that cake ....😀😀
 
I just checked iplayer and yes, poor horse looks very ribby and a proper side on view would leave no doubt. Maybe it's a recent rescue or some metabolic disorder...can't judge without knowing it's story, has anyone contacted the BBC about it?
 
Yes - I first noticed that it was grazing with sheep, then I noticed the hipbones... poor thing.

I suppose the editor of the show isn't horsey!
 
It's filmed a good few months after winter. April/May from recollection. One would hope for better condition by then. I also saw the ribby horse. I thought either recent rescue or oldie, but who knows. It looked very poor.

Agreed. People are so quick to judge without any knowledge of the facts. My friend's old pony looked like a hatrack. He had Cushings, dodgy teeth but tootled about quite happily with his friends. He was 36 and one of the most loved and best-cared for ponies ever. There was no question that his quality of life was still good. WHen his time finally came his owner made the decision without hesitation.

I've not seen it but could be any number of reasons-I know people who've had the RSPCA called out because they have a horse recovering from chronic grass sickness. Nice they cared but they could have just asked.
 
Indeed he could well have been much loved/old/toothless etc etc. I was not about to phone every welfare charity to complain, merely commenting that it was perhaps not the best decision by the BBC to use that shot and not expect some eyebrows to be raised!
 
does look very thin, but it's in a large field with good grazing and the sun on it's back, I wouldn't like to judge without knowing more information!
