Radio 4 is doing a hard hitting documentary programme about James Grey and the wider issues in the UK concerning the horse trade and welfare. It's on at 11am this Friday and will be on listen again for a week afterwards.
This programme was born during Operation Esther when I asked my contacts in the industry to persuade the BBC to commission the programme. They followed the whole James Grey trial and have interviewed various involved parties including vets and representatives of the rescue centres that took in the equines as well as horse dealers and abattoirs for the programme. I expect it to be hard hitting about welfare issues at this end of the UK horse market as well as appropriately scathing about the Greys.
Please listen.
Dedicated to all the brave people who helped with the rescue and with Operation Esther, who believe in horse welfare. You see, a small number of people can make a difference.
There is still much to do.
