BBC3 Horsemeat banquet

I thought it was a great programme! Certainly opened my eyes..

Knowing what I know now, I would eat horsemeat.Seems a tame alternative when you consider that the contents of some takeaways cannot be identified in a laboritory!

If the "meat" content in a takeaway isn't lamb, beef, chicken, goat or any of the usual things we eat then we're getting down to dogs and cats (or even worse) so yes, if horsemeat is cheaper, it's legitimately sourced and humanely killed then why not!

BTW, i'm appalled at insects being included in sausages! I'll never touch another as long as I live :(

Not that I a catholic.. but...

Christians aren't meant to eat horses or pigs... it says so in the bible.

But it's not legitimately sourced or humanely killed is it?

This is what happens to them...

and to thousands of other animals all over the world all the time. If most people had been near any Slaughter houses, even well run ones they'd be vegetarian.
I am genuinely shocked that peoples take home message seems to be "eating horse is OK" rather than taking some personal responsibility for what they consume and the wider industry their spending habits fund.
If you buy cheap meat you deserve what you get, whether that be horse, dog, cat or rendered factory floor worker.
Stop eating cr@p it's bad for you, the environment and animal welfare.
Shop at the local butcher or Farm shop, it really isn't any more expensive than a Supermarket, eat less but eat better. Before people start bleating about cost - my take home pay is £1,600 a month but I run a house, car, horse, pay all my bills and feed myself off that. I only buy local, always free range and Organic where possible. If I'm tight for money I only eat meat once a week.

You missed the bit about cloven/uncloven hoofed animals. Horses are uncloven. Cloven hoofed animals that do not chew the cud are unclean.

Old Testament: leviticus 11:7

Yet,
Genesis 9:3

Every moving thing that lives shall be food for you. And as I gave you the green plants, I give you everything.

See, confusion... This is why I am agnostic :)

Still, I wouldn't eat a horse but don't care if others want to as long as the animal is humanely treated.

How can kangaroos be explicitly forbidden by the Bible? By when was the Bible mostly written, as opposed the discovery of kangaroos? Just sayin'... I think I also must've missed the verse pertaining to armadillos. :D
