My 5 month old border collie pup Willow has had to be rushed into the vets again today

Before i went to the stables my sister went home for her boots and willow had got out the kitchen and ate some caffine powder that had been posted so she put her in the spare room and we went to the stables, got back and willow didnt bark when we went in (which is unusual) then my sister walked in the spare room and willow jumped up on the wardrope instead of her and was looking at her on the mirror and she was banging into things, kept throwing her paws in the air.tumbling water when she was trying to drink and kind of hopping and sliding everywhere then she started falling on her side and rolling about she was actually acting braindead or something, like she had no control over her body so got an emergency appointment. Her heartrate and temp are high, she may need anaesthetic to calm her down, charcoal powder every 4 hours and she could possibly have seizures so she has to be kept in over night and may have to have an iv drip if she doesnt drink within the hour :( Has anybody ever experiance this before ? what are her chances? is it easily treatable ?

Caffiene is toxic to dogs but fingers crossed she pulls through.

Hopefully she gets home soon and if so I would really think about crate training - if you can't watch her and she is into everything (did I read she broke into some paint or something?) then this will prevent future accidents. Mine always has to have something in his mouth and if I can't watch him, into a crate or kennel he goes, it's safer all round for a confirmed nommer x

Well from now on she will be going everywhere with me and if she cant come with me she will be at my sisters.Yeah she got into an old tub of paint that was open and behind the hut in my mums garden.i phoned the vet around 5 to see how willow was and was told the vet will phone back in 1 minute he was just going to check on her,i waited 40 minutes and the still hadnt got back to me so i phoned the vet back and they said-obviously it is a serious condition and that i could either take willow home for the night or take her to the 24 hour vet,so e,my sister and her boyfriend went round to see her,she came out of cage and she had a drip on and she was walking alot better, the drip came off her because she was so hyper and there was blood gushing everywhere but the vet seen to that then brought her out,she has got liquid and a tablet to take tonight but i think she is going to be allright. She is wimpering alot and drinking now.Now i am £260 short but glad willow is better so was obiously worth it.

Oh gawd, collie on caffeine, I dread to think!!

Please don't think I'm nitpicking but it is not feasible to watch a dog 24/7 and they have to learn to be left alone - my dog is 2.5yo and still sleeps in a crate and probably will do for the rest of his natural! My old girl nearly died swallowing two pairs of tights so I do feel your pain.

I know, she was reaally hyper at first but obviously that is a symptom of caffein poisoning, now she is relaxed and really terrified, her ears are back all the time and she cant be left alone, poor thing.oh no i dont mind,i obviously wont take her everywhere with me,i felt like i wanted to because i felt so bad for her and what happened but i will be getting a lock put on my kitchen door tomorrow so from now on she wont be able to get out if she has to be left in there.Glad your dog was ok.
