Had both girls in the PN for various reasons, Tinks 1st run for ages, last time she saw a xc fence was Poplar Park, and Mary a run after her fall at Brigstock.
Either I have lost the plot in dr or the judge hated me!! Mary got 47, fair enough really, she was tense, spooky and abit quick, i was disappointed i hadnt got it cracked
Tink was going fab in the warm up, which i thought was awful, small, stoney and hard. Went in for her test and she decided PN was boring, 1st trot walk trot was actually trot canter walk canter trot!!!! Then she was so relaxed in her canter, she wobbles her ears, imagine a donkey, but the judge said she was nodding her head
she got 39, gutted is an understatement with her as we havent had higher than 34 at novice.
Then onto showjumping which seemed to be causing havoc, Mary 1st, jumped well enough but couldnt really get the canter so 2 down
1st one spread behind 2nd one my fault.
Tink, mm interesting!!! She had 2 down
but also napped in some style twice, the 1st time at the 3rd, no reason 4 strides out just whipped round and half up, same at the last, but she did nearly ditch me
So she finished on 55, most of which were time, annoyed about this as although jumping the fences was better, she hasnt napped like that for nearly 12 months.
The XC was just what we all needed, good ground and a few questions but nothing too much.
Tink was a pig in the warm up, NO brakes whatsoever and then bouncing sideways when we did stop, worst case scenarios either i couldnt get her out of the start box or she was going to bolt!! She was actually very good once i had the upper hand on the brakes. Clear with 4 TF.
Mary, I have to say i was worried she would decide she wasnt a XC horse
Why did i worry!! She flew 1 and 2, both nice logs, and the chair at 3 and parallel at 4, got a slightly funny jump at the log but got the 90 degree turn to the hedge at 5 and 6, 7 the sharks teeth was fine, got a slightly long one to the hay rack at 8, held and rode to the corner at 9, skipped over the fan at 10, then a step up to skinny, walked 8 long yeards?? i decided, and got (miracle) 2 on both, 12 was a step down to a log, let her have her head and pop the log, then a lovely hedge, FLYER!! 14 a little ski jump, 14 a trakhenar, really showjumped this as tink said it was very scary. 15 was the water, a log, 2 strides to a big enough step down then through water up steepish slope to another log, all i can say is what a pro she was!! then flew the last, I was so pleased with her as i really thought i had blown it at Brigstock.
So crap day on paper, and truthfully a pretty crap day, but Mary went clear XC with style so Im happy enough.
So that was so boring and long, wine and home made lasagne if you got this far!!!
