Hi does anyone know the rules on nose nets aparently the BD and BRC rules are different. I was led to believe that nose nets were approved and any horse can wear one with out having to have a letter from vet.
We have a letter from our vet which has gone to BD,BE and BRC and they have sent us letters back which we show each time. It seems daft to me ,why would you put them on if a horse didn't need one ?
NO he didn't and we have changed vets recently as he stopped doing horses and the new vet [ who is very expensive] didn't charge for a letter and phone call to try to get BD to allow our injured horse to wear a vet wrap to protect his fetlock at last years winter champ [they refused had to tack it off just before he went in]
thanks for your help. I agree stupid rules. We've been using a nose net for at least 6 months and today at our riding club they told us that we were not allowed to use our net. I was very surprised as it's never been brought up at any other shows. So we removed it today to save any hastle and still won.
You get a dispensation from British Dressage to ride in a nose net, which you then photocopy and send with your entry form to each venue you compete at. With the riding clubs i was just told a letter from my vet was sufficient which my riding club photocopied and sent with my entries, and i also kept a copy in my pocket.
