BD and FEI tack rule update - thoughts?

I saw that and yes was surprised/interested to see the myler ported bits.
Do these changes automatically get approved for use in BD or is it just FEI at the moment?

Interesting to see that the a 'Figure Eight (crossed) noseband by Riding Tack Manufacture' is now permissable (not that i can acctually find one anywhere, or the company supposedly making them) as it looks extremely like a grackle! And also the PS of sweden high jump bridle which is also very similar to a grackle . . .

The ported bits surprised me too - I wouldn't guess that amulet have convinced them that it's not a true 'port' but just a sort of ergonomic shape. I could see the argument working for the low port but the larger one is clearly providing tongue relief, so why allow that but not a normal ported snaffle (genuine question - I don't use a ported snaffle but the geeky side of me would love to know how the action differs, I assume it's because the Myler is jointed?).

If only the FEI would give their reasons!

BD have issued a statement saying they now apply for them too :).
Woo hoo!! I've just changed BP over to a ported myler Pelham for showing for tongue relief and it's been a revelation. If the snaffle equivalent is permissible I can wave farewell to the drop noseband!

I thought this. I can't see the low ports would be much different to some of the curved Sprenger/NS bits that give the tongue a bit more room but I was also surprised about the high port as I thought that gives tongue pressure?

H&H have shared the article with the tag line of grackles now allowed, with a picture of a grackle.

Reading the link, it doesn't appear grackles are allowed, just a specific make of crossed noseband?

Can anyone find who riding tack manufacture is though? I wonder if it has been lost in translation and just means any riding tack manufacturer/generic?

If you look at the picture there are no rings on the figure 8 noseband, you can buy these (I did a quick search on figure eight noseband) so I presume it's no rings just the sliding part - if that makes sense.

So is it just the English grackle or is the Mexican grackle allowed?

DI allow grackles, tbh they are not much different from a flash. In fact, mine prefers a grackle to a flash when needed, but at moment Have gone back to cavesson :p

I think until anyone has an actual email from BD confirming its all rubbish!

Given that BD cant read your results right, a big rule change like this to say "all grackles" i will wait till i see it in writing!

Interestingly they havent said anything on the BD forum, yet were quick to say that "wonderberry numnahs are allowed" when that question was posted
